Distressed Wood Type

Back in the 1890's-1900's there was period where the printers were tired of nice crisp wood type. So, wood type manufacturers made wood type that was distressed or had rough edges.

Kind of similar to today in our design community. Designers don't want crisp anything and are going back to hand drawn type and images.

The circle of type design comes full circle.
